Starting a Jewellery Reselling Business: How to Buy Daily-Wear Pieces Wholesale

What should a first-time reseller buy first?

Start with daily-wear pieces that are easy to wear, easy to photograph and easy to explain to a customer: studs, jhumkas, slim chains, pearl accents and small combos. They sit at lower price points, so a customer can say yes quickly, and you can test several designs without tying up much money in one.

How do I choose price bands for resale?

Choose your price bands by working backwards from what your own customers are willing to pay, not forwards from the supplier rate. The method is simple and needs no special numbers:

1. Pick two or three bands your buyers already spend in, for example a small impulse band and a slightly higher gift band.
2. Look at how shoppers see the range on our site, which is laddered as under Rs 500 and under Rs 1,000. It is a quick way to see which designs sit in which band.
3. Ask for trade rates on the categories you picked. Our retail prices are not trade rates.
4. Subtract your own costs: packing, delivery, platform or payment fees, and room for the odd discount.
5. What is left is your margin per piece. If it looks thin, change the design mix before you change the price.

How does wholesale ordering work with SFJ?

Wholesale ordering works in four steps, all through WhatsApp:

1. You message us with your shop type and the categories you want.
2. We send photographs and rates for those categories.
3. You confirm quantities, and we confirm stock and the total.
4. Payment details are shared, and the order is dispatched once payment is confirmed.

Mixed categories in one order are normal, so you do not need to commit to a single category. Can SFJ ship wholesale orders to my city?

Yes, we ship across India. Website orders from shoppers ship free across India; for a wholesale order, ask on WhatsApp how shipping is handled to your pincode, because the answer can depend on the order. Wholesale orders are dispatched after payment is confirmed.

What should I ask on WhatsApp about pricing, payment and COD?

Ask for each of these in writing, because we have no published trade price, cash on delivery policy or lead time number on the website. We do not set a minimum order value or quantity; the rest we confirm on WhatsApp.

• Is the design I want in stock, and in what quantity?
• Can I mix categories, such as earrings, chains and pearl pieces, in one order?
• What are the trade rates for the categories I picked?
• Which payment options do you accept, and is cash on delivery possible for my order?
• How long until dispatch after payment is confirmed?
• How will the order be packed?
• How will it ship to my pincode, and what will that cost me, if anything?

Can I buy one piece to test quality first?

Yes. Our website sells single pieces at retail prices, with free shipping across India and delivery in about 4 to 15 days. Ordering a few daily-wear pieces lets you check the finish, weight and packing before a bulk enquiry. Retail prices are not trade rates. Refunds apply only to damaged, defective or wrong items reported within 2 days of delivery.

What is the minimum order for wholesale?

There is no minimum order value or quantity. Message us on WhatsApp with your shop type and the categories you want, and we will confirm availability and rates when we send photographs.

Is cash on delivery available on wholesale orders?

We have no published cash on delivery policy for wholesale, so please ask on WhatsApp before you plan around it. What we can say is that payment details are shared once you confirm quantities and the total, and wholesale orders are dispatched once payment is confirmed.

Can I mix earrings, chains and pearl pieces in one order?

Yes, mixed categories in one order are normal. Tell us the categories on WhatsApp, and we send photographs and rates for each of them. You then confirm the quantities you want, and we confirm stock and the order total before payment details are shared.

Do you ship wholesale orders outside Mumbai?
