Ganpati to Diwali: A Mumbai Jewellery Shopping Plan

Quick answer: Treat the Ganpati to Diwali stretch as one shopping plan, not six rushes. Buy two or three versatile pieces early, order online at least a few weeks ahead because delivery takes 4 to 15 days, and use the Santacruz West showroom for last-minute needs. Festival dates change every year, so check a calendar and count backwards.

In Mumbai the festive season does not start with Diwali. It builds from Ganpati, through Navratri and Dussehra, into Karva Chauth, Dhanteras, Diwali and Bhai Dooj, with family visits, pooja and get-togethers in between. Shoppers who buy for each festival separately often end up rushing, over-spending or repeating the same outfit. This guide gives a calm plan, without dates, because the festival dates change every year and you should check a calendar. It builds on our fashion jewellery buying calendar and the Maharashtrian jewellery guide.

Why plan the whole festive season at once?

Because most festival outfits can share the same jewellery. A gold-tone set that looks right for Ganpati aarti can come back for Diwali with a different saree. Planning the whole run lets you spend once on versatile pieces instead of buying a new set for every event.

Start by listing the events you actually attend, the outfit for each, and who you are gifting, including colleagues, cousins and in-laws. Cross out anything repeated. The remaining list is usually shorter than you expected.

A simple method is a one-page table with three columns: the event, the outfit and the jewellery. Fill it in for every festival and family function you know about. When two rows share an outfit colour, they can share a set. When a row has no jewellery yet, that is your shopping list. It takes ten minutes and saves repeated trips across Mumbai in the busiest weeks of the year.

What should I buy first?

Buy the pieces that work across festivals: a pair of jhumkas, a kundan necklace set or pearl set, and a set of bangles and bracelets. These carry you from the first aarti to the last family dinner.

Then add one colour-led piece for the festival that matters most to you, such as red and maroon jewellery or green kundan jewellery for matching outfits. Our guide on matching kundan jewellery to outfit colours helps you decide.

How early should I order online?

Dispatch takes 1 to 2 days and delivery takes about 4 to 15 days across India, with free shipping. The festive weeks are busy for everyone, so order as early as you reasonably can, and order the pieces for the first festival before the rest.

If you are unsure whether an order will arrive in time, read our guide to planning around delivery time, and choose the showroom for anything you need within a few days.

When does it make sense to visit the Santacruz showroom?

Visit when you want to see colour and weight in person, or when the date is close. The showroom is at F 80/81/82 Hi Life, Phirozshah Mehta Road, Santacruz (West), Mumbai 400054, open Monday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and closed on Sundays. Message us on WhatsApp first so we can confirm stock.

Weekday visits are usually calmer than weekends close to a festival, and an early message helps us keep the categories you want ready, whether that is earrings for a niece or a full set for yourself. The showroom page has the map, and the visit guide explains what to bring.

What about Navratri, Karva Chauth and Diwali specifically?

For Navratri nights, keep it light and secure; our garba jewellery guide covers what moves well. For Karva Chauth, look at Karva Chauth jewellery and the mehndi-proof bangle and ring ideas.

For Diwali itself, the Diwali jewellery, gifts and pooja decor collection brings gifts and decor together, and the five days of Diwali plan maps one look per day.

If a Ganpati visit is also a family occasion, Maharashtrian nath without piercing and a mangalsutra from our mangalsutra collection are the traditional additions many Maharashtrian families look for. Gift buying belongs in the same plan, so put cousins, colleagues and hosts on the list early, before the last-week rush begins.

How do I keep the budget under control?

Set a number per festival before you browse, and keep a small reserve for gifts. Browse jewellery under Rs 1000 and jewellery combo sets to stay inside it; check current prices on each product page.

Remember what you are buying. These are fashion pieces in plated brass or alloy, so they suit festival outfits without the cost of solid gold. Look after them and they will serve for many events: wipe them dry, store them in separate pouches, and keep perfume away. Our post-Diwali storage guide helps them last into the wedding season.
